THERE ARE 78 TAROT CARDS IN A DECK.
The cards can be separated between major and minor arcana. The major are said to speak to major life events and milestones, while the minor reflect the day-to-day. The cards in the major arcana tend to be more well known–they are The Fool, The High Priestess, The Hermit, The Magician, The Moon, The Empress, The Hanged Man, The Lovers, The Chariot, The World, The Tower, The Emperor, Temperance, The Hierophant, The Star, Strength, Judgement, Wheel of Fortune, Death, Justice, and the Devil.

Tarot has become (and always has been) more than a haunted house gimmick or party trick. It has been used in spiritual healing practices for centuries. Its roots come from several sources–various different countries in what is today recognized as the Middle East, Asia, and the Romani people.
